Weekly Photo Challenge: Movement

Inside the arched, stained glass, gothic splendour of Notre Dame de Paris, people move through the church in little clumps. Sometimes they stride through at speed, barely glancing at the vaulted ceiling (no Qausimodo to draw their eyes, I guess), whilst others move slowly, observing every crucial detail. Of course, there are many paces between the extremes, and it was interesting to watch the movement of people through the Cathedral. Paris, it would seem, was rich in photo challenge opportunities.

Oo! Love the photo. What were your camera settings?

    • Hi! Glad you liked it. I was pretty pleased with how this one turned out. It was not that easy trying to capture the moment… so, camera settings:

f/2.8; exposure 3.2 seconds; ISO 80; 35 mm focal length.

There was no flash, and I had to work hard to keep the camera still!

You didn’t use a tripod or monopod to get this, did you? That’s incredible you could hold the camera that still! Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to try this sometime 🙂

      • I used a handy ledge to help keep the camera still, but a tripod would have really helped! I would totally recommend trying it!

I’m definitely going to! I’ll have to take note of your settings but the end result looks great! 🙂

  2. i must say, i have seen a lot of this “photo challenge” – movement — in other blog posts… i think you captured it better than a lot of others! nicely done.

    • Thanks a lot; it was an interesting challenge, movement. I had another idea about catching something moving fast with a fast exposure, and demonstrate movement through stillness (you know, like the bullet through the apple thing). But went the other way comepletely. Just happy that it worked out! Thanks for the comment.

  3. And you managed to not be stepped on??? That in itself is a feat that needs to be applauded. Lovely shot…

    • I was pretty lucky not to be stepped on, and I did have to endure some funny looks. But it was completely worth it. I am glad you liked the shot, and thanks for leaving a comment!
