Summer in a bowl

This summer, we’ve heard many of our Dutch friends raving about the superiority of the Dutch strawberry, and any berry, for that matter. Initially, we weren’t convinced. But as the summer has gone on, the aardbeitjes have got sweeter and sweeter, with a strawberry flavour which, I admit, I haven’t found in other parts of the world, and which takes me  right back to the homegrown strawberries I grew up eating from my Grandfather’s legendary garden. Over the past couple of weeks, as summer is coming to an end, with the nights drawing in earlier and the temperatures beginning to drop, we’ve taken to starting the day with a bowl of cereal and greek yoghurt topped with these amazing Dutch berries. It’s even better when we have our secret ingredients to add: PJD’s amazing lemon curd and a sprinkling of LSA (guess our secret’s out now!). Doesn’t the colour just pop?! We thought we may as well make the most of the last berries of the season, and kicking off the day this way with this delicious embodiment of summer in a bowl really is a good start.

  1. I just had almost the exact same thing this morning for breakfast! Got fresh strawberries and raspberries last night. The only difference is that I put milk and a little sugar on mine.
